Joseph Michael Kissane died at his home in Glens Falls, New York, on July 25. He was 80.
Born June 13, 1932, in Brooklyn, he was the third son of Florence and James Kissane. He married Patricia Ann at the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays on February 11, 1956. They were married for 56 years.
Mr. Kissane was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a medic in the Korean War. After his military service, he sold insurance door-to-door in the Long Island area for Metropolitan Life Insurance, meeting and making friends everywhere he went.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kissane is survived by his four daughters, Kathleen Brownell of Florida; Kerry Finley and her husband Kevin of Fort Ann, Karen Kissane of Glens Falls, Mary Browning and her husband Tom of Connecticut; and a son, Joseph and his wife Luiza Kissane of Massachusetts. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Rebecca Lee, Elijah, Emily, Kristopher and his wife Adrianna, Kelsey, Kameron, Logan, Allison, Adam and Lindsay. Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Gary Murphy of Hampton Bays; nephews and nieces, Richard and Laura Kissane of East Quogue, Jimmy, Bobby and Libby of Massachusetts, and Donnie of Florida; friends, Mike and Ann Leonardi; cousins, George and MaryAnn Mathys of Quogue and Teresa Sullivan and family of Quogue.
He was predeceased by his mother and father; brothers Jimmy, Vincent and Richard; a son-in-law, Karl Brownell; and a goddaughter, Judith Kissane.
A funeral Mass took place at Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays on Monday, July 30. Interment, with military honors, followed at Calverton National Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays.
