Joseph M. Motyka Jr.
Joseph M. Motyka Jr. of Oxford, formerly of Southampton, died at his home on Thursday, February 9. He was 63.
Born on June 2, 1948, in Brooklyn to Joseph Motyka Sr. and Helen (nèe Rylo) Motyka, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Fort Hill Post #376, American Legion, Christy Rock Post #1232, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He also loved to hunt and fish, and, according to survivors, his wife, children and grandchildren were the loves of his life.
Mr. Motyka is survived by his wife, Helena Motyka (nèe Krasinski); his children, Mary Dye and her husband Tim of Norwich, Joseph Motyka and his wife Allison of Kentucky; Kate Roccasecca and her husband Dante of Connecticut, Jen Dwight and her husband Chris of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Ashia, Anthony, Gabriella, and Hannah; siblings, Robert Motyka and his wife Lillian of Hampton Bays, and Philip Motyka and his wife Gail of Southampton; niece and nephew, Timothy and Sarah; and his special “daughter,” Kristi Curtis Downey. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Paul, and his sister, Donna.
A funeral Mass was held on Monday, February 13, at St. Joseph’s Church in Oxford. Interment followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Behe Funeral Home in Oxford.
