Joshua D. Harris Dies At 22

Joshua D. Harris

Joshua D. Harris, son of the Reverend Daniel Harris and his wife Robin L. Harris (née Van Scoy) of Hampton Bays, died on Tuesday, September 20. He was 22.

Mr. Harris was born in Colombia and adopted by his parents shortly after his birth. He was a graduate of Hampton Bays High School and was continuing his education when he died.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, David G. and Diane C. Van Scoy of Hampton Bays; his great-uncle, Robert L. Van Scoy; uncles David G. Van Scoy and his wife, Phoebie of Hampton Bays and Gregg A. Van Scoy of Albany; siblings, Daniel C. Harris and his wife Jennifer of Baldwin, Scott J. Harris of Hampton Bays, Jill M. Willis and her husband Scott of North Carolina, Meghan L. and Rebecca D. Harris of Hampton Bays; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home on Friday, September 23, with Hampton Bays Fire Department services conducted for Father Dan and his family. The Right Reverend Bishop Lawrence Provenzano conducted a funeral service for Mr. Harris on Saturday, September 24, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Southampton. Many clergy, including the Reverend Peter Larsen, Rector of St. John’s were also in attendance. Interment followed at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays with members of the Hampton Bays Fire Department serving as pall bearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the 1880 Seafield House, 2 Seafield Lane, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978, or the Hope House, P.O. Box 358, Port Jefferson, NY 11777.
