Jules Winarick of Westhampton Beach died after a short illness on Saturday, July 20. He was 95.

Mr. Winarick was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1918. He spent the first six years of his life speaking only Yiddish. He moved to the Bronx in 1924 and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School and then from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, earning a degree in engineering. His engineering background afforded him the opportunity to work with B-17 bombers during World War II.

After the war, Mr. Winarick became president of A.R. Winarick, a company that distributed and sold well-known brands of cosmetics, manicure implements and hair care products. He also dedicated part of his life to the development and growth of the Concord Resort Hotel in the Catskills. Under his guidance, the hotel went from being a summer getaway destination to a year-round resort, which featured one of the largest nightclubs at the time and drew the most famous entertainers of the day.

Mr. Winarick was an avid sportsman with a passion for fishing boats and big-game, deep-sea fishing. Over the course of his life he had many boats and fished all over the world, his survivors said.

Mr. Winarick is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jody Winarick; four children, Ken and wife Esther of New York City, Nancy Winarick and husband Richard Siegler of Shelter Island, Thomas and wife Lisa of Florida, and Peter and his wife Antonella of Florida; a stepson, Gary Graham and wife JoAnn of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Aura, Cody, Daniel, Joshua, Julian and Samantha; and a great-grandchild, Ruby.

A memorial service will be held at Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach on Saturday, July 27, at 11:30 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Peconic Bay Medical Center Health Foundation, 1300 Roanoke Avenue, Riverhead, NY 11901.
