Almost every week, there is a Letter to the Editor from a person who adds “Ph.D.” after their name.
I am not complaining that the letters take a liberal or sometimes far-left position. That is her right. But why does she add the highest degree she has earned to her sign-off? We have no idea what field she earned her degree in, or whether her degree is pertinent to the topic.
If we all did that, I could sign off as “Bill Keating, MBA.” Some might add BA or BS or JD or GED.
OK, it’s not a big deal — just annoying.
