Kevin J. Sheahan of Remsenburg died of kidney failure on November 7 at his home. He was 84.

Mr. Sheahan was born in New York City in 1926 to Irish immigrants Denis Sheahan of Kildorrery, County Cork, and Nora Foley of Cahirciveen in County Kerry.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army aboard troopships traveling between various ports in the U.S. and Europe, including England, France, Belgium and Holland. His unit received the Presidential Unit Citation and he personally received the Victory Medal and other campaign medals for both the American and European theater.

After the war, he attended Iona College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1951.

Later that year, Mr. Sheahan was hired by GMAC as a field representative. He stayed with the company for 30 years, rising through many positions and finally reaching an executive level in 1969. He was instrumental in developing a variety of programs for the leasing of GM products, including the leasing of cars and trucks through GM dealerships. He retired in 1981 after GM sold its Fifth Avenue building in Manhattan and moved staff to Detroit.

Upon his retirement, Mr. Sheahan worked as a loan officer for Long Island Trust and later, Bank of the Hamptons. Around this same time, he moved from Manhattan to Remsenburg.

He is survived by a son, Kevin Sheahan of Georgia; a daughter, Catherine Ann Sheahan of Connecticut; a brother, Denis Sheahan of Remsenburg; and seven grandchildren, Sydney, Haley, Trina and Corrie, Christopher, Conor and Andie.

He is predeceased by a daughter, Susan Sheahan; sister, Mary Sheahan; and brother, John Sheahan.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, November 11, at Follett & Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, November 12, at 11 a.m. at the Remsenburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons, 228 West Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays, NY, 11946 would be appreciated by the family.
