Kyle Drew Owen of Southampton died on March 13 at Stony Brook University Medical Center, with his family by his side, at the age of 41.
Mr. Owen found most happiness while surfing with his brother, nephews, and friends. He particularly enjoyed spending Sundays at the ocean with family and friends. NHL hockey and rodeos were sports he held dear and he took pleasure in traveling, especially to Disney World and other warm-climate destinations.
His interest in music varied tremendously and he tinkered with the banjo, guitar, and ukulele. When he indulged his passion for cooking, those around him were in for a treat; he was known for his delicious meals, but most importantly he followed the family tradition of helping to make kielbasa.
The great outdoors fascinated Mr. Owen. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, camping and snowboarding.
Survivors said his sensitive, honest, and sincere personality gave him the ability to understand and empathize with others and that he will be remembered by all for his kindred spirit and heartfelt disposition.
Mr. Owen was predeceased by his mother, Debbie Owen. He is survived by his father, William Owen; a brother, Neal Owen; sister-in-law, Alicia Owen; two nephews, Avery and William; and a niece, Emma. He is also survived by an aunt and uncle, Donna and Steve Broniecki; cousin, Stephanie Neill and husband Mike, and their three children, Caitlin, Taylor and Lauryn; and his longtime love, Sue Cossentino, and her children, Ethan and Emma Suhr.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
