Lawrence “Larry” Callahan of Hampton Bays died on Thursday, June 26. He was 69.
Mr. Callahan was born on August 1, 1938, in Coney Island and was raised in Brooklyn. For the better part of the past 38 years, he lived on the East End with his family and worked as a painter.
When he moved to East Quogue, he started his own business, Hampton Paint and Paper Hanging, which he ran for 25 years, and spent the last 13 years of his career working for Price Rite Painting.
During his retirement, he spent his free time traveling, spending time with his family and friends, and looking after his gardens and fish pond. The most important aspect of his life was the love of his family and friends.
Mr. Callahan is survived by his wife of 14 years, Denise Callahan; two sons, Chris Callahan and Chris Fargiano; and two daughters, Karen Callahan and Justina Fargiano.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Annette Colletti.
A memorial service was held at the Hampton Bays United Methodist Church on June 30.
