The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island & North Fork invites the community to a public information forum on “The Role of the Southampton, East Hampton and Riverhead Town Anti-Bias Task Forces” on Monday, April 7, 7 p.m. at Southampton Town’s Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Avenue, across from Hampton Bays Post Office.
Speaking at the forum about their programs and also about voting issues will be the community members who lead the three Anti-Bias Task Forces: Professor James Banks and Chaplain Gerald Martin from Southampton, Audrey Gaines from East Hampton, and Mark McLaughlin of Riverhead.
The task forces consist of citizens who work to address issues of prejudice and discrimination in their towns and serve as a liaison between the community, religious institutions, schools, law enforcement and government.
Refreshments will precede the program, and a Q&A will follow.
