Lee Edwin Halsey Of Water Mill Dies May 17

author on Jun 29, 2015

Lee Edwin Halsey of Water Mill died on May 17. He was 66.

Mr. Halsey was born and raised in Water Mill, a place he loved and called home, survivors said. As a youngster, he was active in sports. As a teenager he saved enough money to buy a beautiful mahogany boat that he and his friends used for water skiing on Mecox Bay. He caught the surfing bug and could be found wherever the waves were breaking up and down the eastern shore of Long Island, survivors said. He was also known for his love of sports cars and he owned and drove a number of them over his lifetime.

Mr. Halsey served in the United States Army and was fortunate at one point to be stationed in Hawaii, where the surfing was world-class. He returned after completing his military service to farm with his father. He loved the land and loved waking up to the vistas of the farm fields, according to survivors. His son Aaron followed in his footsteps and spent many years farming with his grandfather and his father, and today continues to run the farm with his family.

Mr. Halsey is survived by his father and mother, Charlton and Nancy Halsey; his sons Bradley and wife Robin, and Aaron; a granddaughter, Elizabeth; his former wife, Linda Halsey; his sister, Melanie Yanus and husband Richard; and many cousins.
