Leon P. Bomba
Leon “Leo” P. Bomba of Flanders died at Peconic Bay Medical Center on Sunday, November 20. He was 88.
Mr. Bomba was a very proud World War II veteran who achieved the rank of corporal. He participated in the storming of Normandy and he received the Bronze Star for valor. For many years he was a manager of a Grand Union supermarket.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Kolakowski of Levittown; nephews, Paul Kolakowski and his wife Patricia of Wading River, and Kenneth Kolakowski and his wife Suzanne of Seaford; great-nieces and great-nephews, John and Christopher Kolakowski, Carollanne Lombino, Marybeth Tietrangelo, and Jessica, Jacklyn and Kristen Skalarsky. He was predeceased by his wife Constance (nèe Janiszewski), a niece Christine Skalarsky and her husband Dennis, and a great-nephew, Kyle Kolakowski.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Rosalie’s Roman Catholic Church in Hampton Bays on Wednesday, November 23. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home.
