Leslie M. Walker of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, formerly of East Hampton, died on July 26. She was 67.

Born September 3, 1948, in Norwalk, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Edward Clarke and Margaret (Mathews) Clarke, who predeceased her.

She attended Cobleskill Collee, earning a degree in horticulture and floriculture. Her knowledge of plants led her to create lavish gardens that showcased her artistic vision; her talent earned her the nickname “the Plant Lady.”

A devoted mother, Ms. Walker was a Boy Scout den mother, a Brownie leader and equestrian mom, driving her children, and their friends, to and from riding lessons. She was a regular at her children’s games and practices.

Ms. Walker was an active member of the East Hampton Presbyterian Church for many years. She served as a deacon and head of Christian education, in addition to being a member of the handbell choir and the minister search committee. She volunteered for a church mission to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Survivors said she never sought attention for her good work.

Ms. Walker is survived by three children, Dennis Jr. of East Hampton, Jennifer of Flanders and Morgan of North Carolina; her husband, Dennis of East Hampton; her father, Edward Clarke; and siblings, Lawrence Clarke of North Carolina, David Clarke of Summit, Michael Clarke of North Carolina, Bonnie Walker of California, Daisi Johnson of Colorado and Christopher Clarke of Summit; as well as four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Thursday, August 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton. A funeral will take place on Friday, August 5, at 11 a.m. at the East Hampton Presbyterian Church; burial will follow at Wainscott Cemetery.
