Lester Gardiner Bishop, of Mesa, Arizona, died on June 6. He was 96.
He was born March 20, 1925 in Westhampton, to Frank Capron and Alice [Howell] Bishop.
Mr. Bishop served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in Guam. He attended electrician school in Chicago and worked for Honeywell, retiring after 28 years.
In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling the country in his travel trailer, visited all 48 states in the continental United States, and later took a cruise to Alaska.
During his older years, Mr. Bishop enjoyed playing Bingo and Cribbage and building puzzles.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Thompson, Steven and Teresa Bishop, David and Pamela Bishop and Thomas Bishop; his grandchildren, Robert Thompson and Sandy Ackerman, Jennifer Bishop, Heather Stanga, Marc and Latosha Bishop, Ashley and Kai Wilson, Adam Bishop, Shawn Stark and John Donnelly; his great-grandchildren, Kaylene Skidmore, Kalvin Ackerman, Marissah Thompson, Aurora, Olyviah, Fynnlie Bishop and Caden Stanga; as well as a great-grandchild, Serenity Ackerman. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Alice Bishop; daughter Carol Donnelly; and grandson-in-law, Michael Stanga. Mr. Bishop will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
