Lifelong Sag Harbor resident Elizabeth P. Schaefer died on August 26 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Patchogue. Also known as “Patricia Ann,” “Sissy” or “Betty,” she was 70.
Born February 7, 1939, at Southampton Hospital, to Lucy (née Mulski) and Harry J. Page, she attended the Sacred Heart Academy in Sag Harbor and was a 1960 graduate of the Suffolk School of Nursing and a 1961 State University of New York graduate. A registered professional nurse, she worked at Southampton Hospital for 40 years as a nursing supervisor. In her off time, she enjoyed quilting, fishing and growing orchids.
She is survived by three sons, Peter Schaefer and Patrick J. Schaefer, both of Sag Harbor, and Perry P. Schaefer of Michigan; two sisters, Nancy K. Dickerson of Hampton Bays and Susan P. Wawryk of Sag Harbor; a brother, Chester Page of Sag Harbor; four grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon P. Schaefer; a son, Paul V. Schaefer, and two brothers, Peter P. Page and John W. Page.
The family received visitors on August 30 at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. A funeral mass was held on August 31 at St. Andrew’s Church, also in Sag Harbor.
