Taking advantage of one of many warm spells this winter, I loaded my kayak on the roof racks and drove to one of my favorite little freshwater ponds for a half-day paddle. The remote pond has no convenient launch area; access requires a short bushwack to a sedge swamp where high water levels are key to an enjoyable paddle. Wind, water levels, temperature and sunshine were all in my favor last week.
