Two Suffer Minor Injuries in Flanders House Fire

Two people suffered minor injuries in a house fire in Flanders early Sunday morning. According to Southampton Town Police, the fire began in the basement of a home on Priscilla Avenue. All occupants of the home were able to escape the fire, which was reported shortly after 9 a.m., police said, but two residents were injured by broken glass while exiting the home, police said. Jessica Mckasty, 31, of Coram was charged with misdemeanor aggravated DWI following a traffic stop on County Road 39 in North Sea on March 16. Southampton Town Police reported stopping her pickup after observing it swerving between lanes and almost causing a head-on collision. The driver had red bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on her feet when exiting the vehicle, the arrest report states, and she performed poorly on subsequent roadside sobriety exams.
