Local National Guard Airmen Receive New Ranks

Major General Ray Shields, the adjutant general for the State of New York, announced last week the recent promotion of members of the New York Air National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Matthew Forbes, from Hampton Bays, and assigned to the 106th Rescue Wing Air National Guard Base at Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach received a promotion to the rank of lieutenant colonel on March 2.

Perla Moran, from Westhampton Beach, and assigned to the Maintenance Group at the 106th Rescue Wing, received a promotion to the rank of staff sergeant on April 6. Nicholas Napolitano, from East Quogue, and assigned to the 102nd Rescue Squadron at the 106th Rescue Wing, received a promotion to the rank of captain on June 2.

CMEE To Host Family New Year's Eve Event

The Children’s Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton will ring in 2026 with a daytime New Year’s Eve celebration designed especially for young families. The museum will host its annual New Year’s Eve Bash on Wednesday, December 31, from 10 a.m. to noon. The Village of Westhampton Beach will host its annual Christmas Tree and Menorah Lighting Celebration on the Village Green on Saturday, December 6, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Westhampton Beach Fire Department will escort Santa to the Green, joining decorated fire trucks from neighboring departments in a festive parade of lights down Main Street.
