Louisa F. (née Hand) Nicholson, a lifelong resident of Hampton Bays and East Quogue, died at North Shore University Hospital on Saturday, June 28, following a long illness. She was 81.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Belson and her husband Frank of Flanders, and Linda Carter of Florida; a sister, Anna Matthews; seven grandchildren, Becky and Chris Miller, Frank and Louisa Belson, Joe Carter, Joanne Goetz and Colleen Weis; and six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie Miller, Brittany, Brandon, J.J. and Dylan Goetz, and Cassidy Weis.
She was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Raymond M. Nicholson; two brothers, Frank and Everett Hand; four sisters, Maude Zientek, Minnie Randall, Mae Rose Barraclough and Sally Hand; and a son-in-law, Billy Carter.
A funeral service conducted by the Reverend Daniel Harris was held at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on July 2. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
