Louise J. Holecek, the wife of the late Frank A. Holecek, died surrounded by loved ones on July 15. She was 98.
While she was a long-time resident of Hampton Bays, she was living with her daughter in Cape Coral, Florida, at the end of her life.
Ms. Holecek was born on April 1, 1923, in Old Lycoming, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing and was a nurse for many years at a major New York City hospital.
She married the love of her life, Frank A. Holecek, in 1949. Together, they owned the Czechoslovak Praha restaurant in New York City, which was famous for their Long Island Duck dinner. They retired to Hampton Bays in 1983.
She was the proud mother of two children, whom she loved deeply, according to her family, and she absolutely cherished spending time with and spoiling her only grandson.
“After 31 years, Louise has finally reunited with her husband in the afterlife,” her family said. “She is now at peace and will forever be remembered by her family and friends.”
Ms. Holecek is survived by her daughter Debra L. Janus and her son-in-law Jerry Janus; her grandson Christopher Janus; and her future granddaughter-in-law Desiree Lu.
A funeral service was held at the Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays on Thursday, July 22.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a donation be made to the tireless and selfless volunteers at the Hampton Bays Fire Department: www.hamptonbaysfiredept.org/content/donate.
