Louise Memola Pozzolano of East Quogue died on November 9. She was 76.
Born on May 13, 1942, in the Bronx, she was the youngest of 13 children. At age 13, she moved with her family to Flanders and attended Riverhead High School, graduating in 1960.
She met Joe Pozzolano when she was 16, and they married in February 1963. The Pozzolanos moved to East Quogue in 1974, where they resided for almost 45 years. Ms. Pozzolano began working at the Riverhead Central School District in 1973, and later worked for Hampton Express, a bus company located in Hampton Bays. She returned to Riverhead School District before she retired. She was an active member of the Church of St. Rosalie, where she also taught religion for more than 25 years.
Survivors said she was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. She was always the first person to lend a hand and expected nothing in return.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Donna); daughter Gina (Adam); and granddaughters, Sarah and Erin.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. A funeral was planned for Tuesday at St. Roslie’s, followed by burial at St. Isidore Cemetery in Riverhead.
