Louise Tucker of Sag Harbor died on January 31, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 83.
She entered with world as World War II was just beginning.
She was raised in a modest home in Sag Harbor, and was surrounded by a loving family and loyal dog named Mike, her family said.
She majored in education at Albany State University and earned a Master’s Degree in education. She taught elementary education for several years.
She eventually transitioned to another career that involved helping others obtain social services.
She valued her work/life balance, and spent most of her free time taking long walks in nature. During these walks, she observed and identified various bird species. Bird watching evolved into an obsession, her family said, as she became enamored with God’s creations.
She also enjoyed dining with friends and family and making memories. She was a private person, but for those who were lucky enough to enter her inner circle, it was abundantly clear that she was special, her family said and that the world is a lesser place now that she is gone.
“Although we are deeply saddened by her death, we can find solace that Louise will enjoy everlasting life in heaven,” her family said. “Louise will always remain in our hearts and minds.”
The Tucker family invites all in celebrating the life of Louise Tucker on the first anniversary of her death.
