I am a resident of East Quogue and a frequenter of the Regal Movie Theater in Hampton Bays. My husband, daughter, granddaughter and I regularly enjoy movies at the theater.
A movie theater is a gathering place for a community, a place to be entertained and refreshed. We live in stressful times, and we can all use a good laugh or cry at the movies. So I was particularly upset to hear that the movie theater might be leased to CVS instead of to the Regal Cinemas [“Southampton Town Planning Board Takes Early Look At Proposal For CVS In Hampton Bays Movie Theater Space,” 27east.com, May 29].
We already have a CVS in Southampton and Westhampton, as well as a Rite Aid in Hampton Bays. We do not need another chain drugstore in Hampton Bays.
But we do need our movie theater.
I urge Southampton Town to reject the offer from CVS to open in the space now rented to Regal Cinemas. It would be a terrible loss for our community.

As we approach July Fourth, let’s remember that America has suffered through dark and divisive times before. It appears as if we are there again. While there are always those who capitulate, our history shows that we remember those Americans...
As a Sag Harbor native in my late 30s, I’ve seen the East End fully transform into the Hamptons — and it’s not a pretty picture. A village resident, I’m constantly reminded of how I don’t make enough money to...
