Lydia Ann Crowley Of Hampton Bays Dies July 28

Lydia Ann (Berglin) Crowley of Hampton Bays died on July 28. She was 74 years old.

Ms. Crowley was born on May 16, 1941, in Southampton and grew up in Hampton Bays. She attended nursing school in New York City at Roosevelt Hospital, where she earned her degree as a registered nurse. She married Tom Crowley in 1962 and together they raised four children. In 1972 they moved from Mr. Crowley’s hometown of Queens Village to Hampton Bays, where Ms. Crowley had grown up. She worked for many years as a nurse and ended her career as a charge nurse at Southampton Nursing Home.

Ms. Crowley was an avid reader and gardener and enjoyed collecting antiques. She loved spending time with her family and shopping with friends, survivors said, adding that she will be remembered as a wonderful, loving caretaker to many members of her large family.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen; sons, Thomas and Patrick and their wives Julia and Leah; son-in-law, Richard Daley; and 10 grandchildren: Kelly, Anna, Jack, William, Jane, Helen, Joseph, Daniel, Bridget, and Lauren. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom, and a daughter, Kate.

Funeral services were held at O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on August 2, followed by burial on August 3 at Calverton National Cemetery, next to her husband. Memorial donations may be made to the Hampton Bays Library, to support the additions to the library that were donated in memory of her late daughter six years ago, 52 Ponquogue Avenue, Hampton Bays, NY 11946.
