Main Break Cuts Off Water To About Two Dozen Hampton Bays Homes On Monday

A water main in Hampton Bays broke on Monday morning, cutting off running water to about two dozen homes along East Tiana Road, between Pinewood Lane and Springville Road, for several hours.The break occurred when the ground froze early Monday morning, causing the main to shift, Hampton Bays Water District Superintendent Rob King said. He said a crew was able repair the break and restore water to homes along the roughly 1,500-foot stretch of road by about 2:30 p.m. Monday.Crews were back in the area on Tuesday to replace an old water valve, Mr. King said, but that work was not expected to cause further disruptions in service.
