Suffolk County Police arrested a Wheatley Heights man for stealing three cars in Suffolk County, including one in Southampton, in the last two days.
Officers from the Second Precinct responded to Walt Whitman Mall, located on Route 110 in Huntington Station on Monday, January 11, after a 911 caller reported seeing a vehicle in the parking lot that had been reported stolen in Southampton Town earlier that morning. Officers found the 2017 BMW at 1:06 p.m. and saw a man get in and drive off. They stopped the SUV just south of the mall and took the driver, Claudy Fleury Jr., into custody.
Further probe revealed Fleury, who was in possession of a stolen credit card at the time of his arrest, was wanted for stealing a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a 7-Eleven parking lot in Islip Terrace, at approximately 1:25 p.m. on January 16, and a 2013 Toyota Camry from an East Northport parking lot, the same day, just hours later at 7:45 p.m.
Fleury, 25, was charged with two counts of third degree grand larceny, third degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies, along with misdemeanor second degree criminal contempt. He was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on January 18, after which he was to be turned over to Southampton Town Police for additional charges.
