Margaret Kiernan Bodkin of Sag Harbor died on January 4 from rapid complications of a brain tumor. She was 70.
She was born April 8, 1950 in Mineola to George Kiernan and Jane Kiernan (Harris) of Sag Harbor. Growing up in Massapequa and later a proud resident of America’s oldest whaling port, Sag Harbor, she shared her music degree talents earned at Manhattanville College. She taught for many years in the Three Village School District in Setauket, and locally at public and private elementary and high schools in the Hamptons.
Besides being an accomplished cellist, Ms. Bodkin enjoyed being a member of the Samba drumming group, The Harbor Bells community hand bell choir, the Ross High School annual show orchestra, and the Choral Society of the Hamptons.
She loved driving along in antique cars, traveling both home and abroad and spending time in her Deerfield Beach, Florida residence. Her joyful attitude and kindness will be missed by many, her family said.
She is survived by her husband Kevin Bodkin of 22 years; and her Brother Thomas Kiernan of Florida.
A private service will be held at later date.
