Marguerite Kirkpatrick Gressle, a longtime resident of East Quogue, died on Thursday, July 2, at The Greens in Wilton, Connecticut. She was 90, and recently moved to an assisted living facility after almost 25 years as a resident of East Quogue.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she majored in music. She was an English teacher in the Wilmington, Delaware, public school system and, after retiring to East Quogue, she was a museum docent, a church organist, and host of a classical music program for an earlier iteration of the public radio station based at Southampton College.
She was also an avid gardener, pianist and book club enthusiast.
Mrs. Gressle is survived by two sons, Richard Gressle of New York and Mark Gressle of Connecticut; a daughter, Katherine Gressle of Massachusetts; and seven grandchildren, Lara Macdonald, Anna Capalbo, Emma Haritos, and Juliet, Jack, Matthew and Dylan Gressle.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reverend Lloyd E. Gressle.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Hampton Bays at 1 p.m.
