Marilyn Fabricatore

Marilyn Fabricatore of Eastport died of natural causes at her home, with her family by her side, on January 1. She was 87.

Ms. Fabricatore was born on March 4, 1925, in Buffalo to Lucy and John Schueler. Despite the woes of the Great Depression, she lived a happy childhood with her two brothers, John and Carl. In 1949, she graduated from Fredonia State Teachers College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching.

Her career brought her to Bethpage, where she taught kindergarten, music and chorus. It was there that she met her husband, Sandy Fabricatore, whom she married on August 8, 1953. She continued to teach between the births of several of her children.

In 1972, she and her growing family settled in Manorville, where she and her husband
built a quarter horse farm. While running the horse farm, they also ran several delicatessens and hero restaurants, in addition to raising their six children. After her children had grown, she and her husband moved to Florida, then to North Carolina and eventually settled in Virginia, where they stayed for 18 years.

Ms. Fabricatore enjoyed expressing herself through poetry from the time she was a little girl, and she self-published a book of her poetry in 2008. She also expressed herself musically by playing the piano, clarinet and saxophone. She had a love of watercolor painting and created many paintings throughout her lifetime.

Ms. Fabricatore is survived by her husband, Sandy; two daughters, Carol Fabricatore-Giroux and husband David, Sue Kelley and husband Jeff; four sons, Brian, Alan, Sandy and wife Meg, and Ken; and a brother, Dr. Carl Schueler and his wife, Nancy. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Brian, Stacey, Daniel, Amanda, Kyle, Sean, Chloe, Ian, Eric, Sarah and Eve. She was predeceased by a brother, John Schueler.

The family received friends at Follett and Werner Funeral Home on January 4. Services were held at the funeral home on January 5. Interment will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978.
