Marilyn “Mare” Ann Horton of Hampton Bays died at home on January 30, 2020. She was 56.
Born and raised in White Plains, she moved full time to Hampton Bays in 2018 after retiring from the Harrison Public Library in Westchester County. She had a career that she loved in the world of books, working as a sales representative for a book fair company, a consultant copyreader, and she managed the children’s department of a major bookseller. For the last 17 years of her career she was employed as a librarian. Her true passion, however, was the cause of animal rescue, survivors said.
Ms. Horton is survived by her partner, Patty Hammill; two sisters, Susan Horton (Jim) Polos and Jean Horton; a niece Louisa (Logan) Condon; nephews, Thomas (Lizzie) Polos and Wyatt (Kate) Ivanowski.
