Mario “Marty” Trunzo of Sag Harbor died on April 14. He was 97.
Born on August 16, 1918, in Calabria, Italy, he attended Pierson High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Sag Harbor American Legion Post 388, East Hampton VFW Post 550, and volunteered with the Sag Harbor Fire Department, serving for a period as chief of the Montauk Hose Company.
Predeceased by his wife, Ninfi, Mr. Trunzo is survived by his children, William Porter and Nina Trunzo, both of Sag Harbor; and two sisters, Yolanda Trunzo Fields and Mary Trunzo Herbst, both of Sag Harbor.
A memorial service will be held at the Columbia Street Fire Station at a date to be announced. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor.
