Mark the Road

I want to congratulate the Highway Department, or whoever decided to prohibit turning right or left on Moses Lane, Bishops Lane, Corrigan Street, Somerset Lane, Lee Avenue, Captain’s Neck Lane, etc. Have you ever driven on South Magee Street from 3 to 8 p.m. and seen what you’ve caused? The traffic light is about six minutes long, and the line of cars goes from Route 27 north to Hill Street now, waiting to get onto the highway. Since only about six cars can make the light, that makes the wait over one hour just to get to the highway. It’s unbelievable that you would think this makes the traffic situation better.

My suggestion would be that you mark the road before the light on South Magee Street as three distinct lanes (there is room for three lanes): a left lane, a middle lane and a right-turn lane. Mark the road so that cars going straight toward North Magee Street don’t block cars that want to turn right onto the highway. Also, a left arrow would be helpful.

Lastly, drop the “no right turn” nonsense (that’s seven days a week, which makes no sense). And, finally, don’t build anything else on Magee Street, including more houses or a pool.
