Martha Buffo Of Bridgehampton Dies August 19

Martha Buffo of Bridgehampton died on August 19 of cancer. She was 81.

Always an advocate for the poor and disenfranchised, she spent her life reaching out to those in need. Active in her local Catholic community she brought her unique dynamic energy to her mission. In her many years as a teacher, she opened the eyes of young people to the possibility and potential of their lives.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; four children, Gerard, Mary, Elizabeth and Francesca; and grandchildren, Julia, James, Joseph, Nicholas, Thomas, Olivia, Sophia and Kai; a sister, Concetta; and in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandchild, Mia.

A wake was held on August 21 and 22 at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass took place on August 23 at the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Bridgehampton.

UPDATE: Sunday, 9:45 a.m. A Riverhead man has been charged with DWI in relation to the Saturday evening crash that sent five people to hospitals. WESTHAMPTON BEACH — Mark Green, 44, of Westhampton Beach, was arrested by Westhampton Beach Village Police on November 21 and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.
