Mary Bennett Guldi
Mary Bennett Guldi, a lifelong resident of Southampton, died at Southampton Hosptial on Tuesday, January 31. She was 83.
Born on February 13, 1928, to Harrison and Mary Bennett, she attended Southampton Public Schools, graduating in 1946 as salutatorian. She was awarded a scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music, but declined due to family responsibilities.
In 1949, she married Charles F. Guldi, whom she worked alongside at A. Guldi & Sons, the family electrical business, until their retirement. Mr. and Mrs. Guldi were longtime members of the Bull Head Yacht Club and enjoyed their leisure time aboard their boat Kittywake, and winters in Florida among good friends and family. Ms. Guldi was an avid reader and spent many hours at the Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton.
Ms. Guldi is survived by children, Christine Nikolich and her husband Robert of Riverhead, Karen Fink of Riverhead, Michael Charles Guldi and Joanne Liehr of Southampton; siblings, Eugene Bennett of Florida and Barbara Maevers of California; grandchildren, Edward Oakes and his wife Crystal, Andrew Oakes and his wife Melissa, Marcus Fink and his fiancée Shana Mootoo and her children Hana and Indya, Farran and Erica Liehr; great-grandchild Bella Noelle Fink; and 36 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles F. Guldi in 1991.
A memorial service, officiated by Richard King, took place at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton on Friday, February 3, followed by a reception at the Elks Club of Southampton.
