Mary L. Kreiling, a former resident of Westhampton Beach, died on November 23, 2016, at Life Care Center of Plymouth, Massachusetts, after a brief illness. She was 89.
Born Mary Louise Lucas in Rockville Centre, she grew up in Lynbrook. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany, where she met her future husband, Robert T. Kreiling, who later became president of Suffolk County Community College. For nearly three decades, Mrs. Kreiling taught elementary school in South Bethlehem and Remsenburg. Mr. and Mrs. Kreiling raised their four children in Westhampton Beach, where Mrs. Kreiling was active in school and church activities, as well as in the Westhampton Country Club.
After her retirement in 1989, Mrs. Kreiling moved with her husband to Port St. Lucie, Florida, where she lived until Mr. Kreiling died in 2015, when she moved to the Pinehills in Plymouth.
Mrs. Kreiling is survived by her daughters, Jean Louise Kreiling of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and Nancy Kreiling Kingston of Nyack; a son, William Kreiling and wife Ivy of Virginia; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband; and by her daughter, Susan Lawless and husband Jack.
Interment will be private.
