Matthew Rewinski Of Southampton Dies February 2

Matthew Rewinski of Southampton died on February 2, 2019. He was 34.

Born on July 29, 1984, in Southampton Hospital, he graduated from Southampton High School and attended college at Sullivan County Community College.

Survivors said he loved everything about Southampton—fishing with his father on Big Fresh, the ocean, and the pool at his grandparent’s home. He was an animal lover and always had many pets to care for. He immersed himself in nature at a very young age; a favorite pastime was hiking on the trails and camping whenever the spirit moved him. He had a love for language and literature, and was an avid reader of science fiction, he taught himself how to play the guitar, and he loved listening to music, especially the Grateful Dead. He had a sharp mind, a great smile and a keen sense of humor, survivors said.

He is survived by his parents, Steve and Judy Rewinski; his grandmother, Mimi Finger; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service is being planned for the summer.
