Marvin M. Grieve
Marvin M. Grieve of Calverton died at home Saturday, April 2. He was 89.
Born in Manhattan on July 22, 1921, Mr. Grieve spent his early years in Brooklyn and Manhattan. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942, serving as a B-26 pilot in North Africa and Italy. He flew 60 bombing missions and was shot down twice, emerging without a scratch. After the war, he lived in Paris for a year and then worked in his father’s picture framing and antiques business. He began his career in television program syndication in the early 1950s and in 1969, he founded MG Films, focusing on children’s programming. In 1980, he partnered with Richard Perin forming MG/Perin, producing and distributing syndicated TV programs. After his retirement, he took great pride in helping build homes on the East End with Habitat for Humanity.
Mr. Grieve loved life and lived his to the fullest, survivors said.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Holly; his sister-in-law, Valorie Dawson; and many friends. He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie.
A private memorial service is being planned. Funeral arrangements are under direction of McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
