Eleanor Frances (Pompili) Molleson of Southampton died on December 19, 2017, in Cleveland, Ohio, after a brief illness. She was born in Cleveland on March 23, 1928.
Eleanor married John Molleson, who predeceased her, of Southampton, in 1984. She participated in many activities in Southampton including line dancing, yoga, Habitat for Humanity and Silver Sneakers. Her passions centered on family, friends, the arts and her garden, which became an extension of her artistic talent.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1954 and majored in ceramics, silver smithing and jewelry craft. She was one of the first recipients of the Cleveland Institute of Art, President’s Traveling Scholarship, Agnes Gund award and was the first female to receive it. During her early career, her ceramic pieces were displayed in a juried exhibit at the Cleveland Art Museum May Shows from 1951-1954. She moved to New York City in 1959 to begin a career at Tiffany and Company.
Ms. Molleson’s positive and grateful outlook on life, her love for others and her zest for living leave a lasting legacy, survivors said. Her signature emblem was a heart.
