It being 2020, there should be no surprise that a minor earthquake could apparently be felt on eastern Long Island Sunday morning.
According to the Unites States Geological Survey, the quake, with a magnitude of 3.6, occurred at 9:10 a.m. Sunday. The epicenter was in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, which is between Providence, Rhode Island, and Cape Cod.
The USGS said the quake could be felt on eastern Long Island, but reports were few and far between. Lieutenant Susan Ralph, the public information officer for the Southampton Town Police Department, said that police did not get any calls about the temblor that reportedly lasted for several seconds.
