Amelia ‘Mollie’ Biddle Allen Healey
Amelia Biddle Allen Healey died on Tuesday, July 10, at Southampton Hospital after a brief illness. She was 89. Known as Mollie, she was born on July 31, 1922, and attended school in Garden City. As a young woman, she worked in New York City for George Jensen and Abercrombie and Fitch. In 1950, she married Sidney Allen of Southampton, a well-known outdoorsman, who pre-deceased her. In 1972, she married former U.S. Representative Jim Healey of Southampton.
An avid reader, lover of history, and a kind and generous spirit, she was loved by all, survivors said. She was a longtime member of the Bathing Corporation of Southampton.
She is survived by her two children, Peter Allen and Roxanne Allen Briggs, Her third child, Phoebe Allen, pre-deceased her. In addition, she is survived by her son-in-law, Geoffrey Briggs; her three step-children, James, Joseph, and John Healey and Elizabeth Mulvihill; four grandchildren, Phoebe, Bailey, Madeline Briggs, James Allen; and six step-grandchildren, Megan Mulvihill, Susan Ringdal, Dan Mulvihill, Jace Healey, Cape Healey Boyd and Almendra Staffa-Healey.
A funeral service was held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Southampton on Monday, July 16, at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Southampton Hospital Foundation, 240 Meeting House Lane, Southampton, New York 11968.
