Mother, Christa von Hassell and son, Adrian von Hassell are memorialized

A memorial service for Christa von Hassell, 85, and her son, Adrian von Hassell, 52, will be held on Saturday, September 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the New York Athletic Club, 180 Central Park South, on the corner of 7th Avenue in New York City.

Ms. von Hassell died on August 15 at her Southampton home. Mr. von 
Hassell, who spent a great deal of time at his mother’s Southampton home from 1973 up until his death, died on July 6 at New York Hospital 
Cornell Weill Medical Center of complications related to his treatment for leukemia.

It has come to my attention that there is an effort afoot to move our beloved college windmill off our campus, where it has resided for many decades [“New Push To Move Southampton’s Oldest Windmill From College Campus Back to Village,” 27east.com, June 11]. There are approximately 10,000 Southampton College alumni. We have contributed to the area since 1963.
