Muriel Steigerwald Zimmerman dies at 89

Muriel Steigerwald Zimmerman

Muriel Steigerwald Zimmerman of Hampton Bays died 
at her home on July 2. She was 89.

A former member of the Southampton Homemakers Group, she was an artist whose work was exhibited at the Hampton Bays Library.

She is survived by three daughters, Veronica Kotary and her husband Patrick of Hampton Bays; Muriel Gennosa and 
her husband Joseph of 
Oceanside, and Lily Gaskin 
and her husband Frank of California; six sons, James Steigerwald and his wife Jane of 
North Carolina, William Steigerwald and his wife Maureen of Hampton Bays, Michael Steigerwald and his wife Ann of Ohio, Richard Steigerwald and his wife Toni of Miller Place, Robert Steigerwald and his wife Pam of Hammondsport, and Joseph Steigerwald and his wife Ramona of Elmira; a brother, William Goodall of England; 28 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, James Steigerwald, and her second husband, of 14 years, Robert F. Zimmerman.

The family received visitors on July 5 at J. Ronald Scott 
Funeral Home in Hampton 
Bays. Funeral services followed on July 6 at St. Rosalie’s 
Roman Catholic Church in Hampton Bays. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978 would be appreciated by the family.
