Muriell Lyons Raynor
Muriell “Merp” Jeanette Lyons Raynor of Hampton Bays died on Wednesday August 29, at the Riverhead Care Center. She was 91.
“Merp” ran the concession stand at Meschutt Beach in Hampton Bays for about 15 years, where she thrilled beachgoers with her famous clam chowder, survivors said. Following that, she worked in the tax receiver’s office at Southampton Town Hall.
Ms. Raynor is survived by two sons, Richard P. Raynor Jr. and his wife Rondi, and Neil J. Raynor and his wife Jane, all of Hampton Bays; four grandchildren, Scott Raynor of Syracuse, Jill Raynor-Holdcroft of Seattle, Jonathan Raynor and Matthew Raynor of Hampton Bays; four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Sadie Raynor of Syracuse and Hudson and Leo Holdcroft of Seattle. She was predeceased by her husband Richard P. Raynor Sr.; and three brothers, Gerard Lyons, Richard Lyons and Paul Lyons.
Funeral services were held at Oakland Cemetery and the American Legion in Sag Harbor on Saturday, September 8.
