Myron Joseph Bennett, Formerly Of Southampton, Dies April 19

Myron Joseph Bennett died in Lake Worth, Florida, on April 19, 2017, after a long illness. He was 80.

Born in Southampton to John and Sarah Bennett, he completed his military training as a paratrooper, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Joseph, at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following his discharge, he attended Adelphi University, earning a master’s degree in business administration and was recruited by Grumman Aerospace in Bethpage. He was later relocated to Thousand Oaks, California, and continued with the company in Irvine until retiring to Lake Worth, Florida.

In Florida, he trained with the state’s child protective services agency and worked in the foster care system.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Lake Worth; four children, Leslie Larsen of Colorado, Myron and Todd of Thousand Oaks, and Robb of San Juan Capistrano, California; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Sister Catherine Bennett of Marymount Convent in Tarrytown.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 18, at noon at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Southampton.
