Your editorial this week on school consolidation [“Time To Talk,” May 12] is one of the most thought-provoking I’ve seen in a long while.
This is not least because I was unaware of the hugely wasteful multiplication of school districts in Southampton Town and the screaming need to remedy it — until I read your editorial. Shows how one can think they know about local matters, but not everything.
Maybe I’m overreacting, but this is a horror! Seems the conversation has to begin, though it may take some pluck on our leaders’ part.
Thank you so much for nailing something that’s right in front of our faces but many (myself included) have not seen.
