I must say, my stomach turned as I read the antisemitic diatribe Richard Smith submitted [“A War Crime,” Letters, September 4] about heinous acts apparently committed by the surrounded, out-gunned, out-manned Jewish forces defending themselves after the State of Israel was created by the United Nations in 1948. Months ago, The Southampton Press published my suggestion that Southampton’s judicial candidates declare their position on the president’s pardon of the January 6 rioters as a measure of whether it was a safe place for me, a Democrat.
