New Push To Move Southampton's Oldest Windmill From College Campus Back to Village

The windmill currently at Stony Brook University Southampton campus was built more than 300 years ago on Windmill Lane in Southampton Village. A group has proposed moving it back and said they have raised funds to finance the move and renovation of the structure. DANA SHAW

The Rogers Memorial Library and historic Cooper Hall overlook the parcel of preserved open space on Windmill Lane where a group of Southampton Village residents and officials have proposed moving the windmill at Stony Brook University-Southampton campus, which was originally in the village when it was built in the late 1600s or early 1700s.
