Not A Prop

I was compelled to write this today while watching our “commander in narcissism” tear gas crowds so he could do a photo op in front of a church:

Get that Bible out of your hands.

Your hands that have clenched into fists in stubborn indigence when they should have been an outstretched palm reaching to lift up your brothers and sisters.

Get that Bible out of your hands.

Your hands that have touched women in ways they did not consent to, while you laugh and brag about their inability to resist. Your hands should have been still and respectful.

Get that Bible out of your hands.

Your hands that grip the pen that continue to sign away Mother Nature’s shield for your own financial gain, when you should have been planting seeds for your children and our future.

Get that Bible out of your hands.

Your hands that have held a golf club for your own recreation, while they should have been holding the hands of those grieving the 100,000 deaths we have suffered this year.

Get that Bible out of your hands.

Your hands that grip the podium while you threaten the people of your nation with military force, when they should have been pressed together in prayer asking God and country what you can do to ease their pain and suffering.

Get that Bible out of your hands, sir — it isn’t a prop for your photo op, you feckless fop; your show’s a flop, why won’t you stop.
