It appears as if Donald Trump has found yet another outlet for his need for power: our military. After unending praise and encouragement from Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump decided to attack Iran, using our incredible military force.
Trump loves to use superlatives, as we all know. And, indeed, our military is a superlative. Superlatives feed his ego.
We also know Trump seems to have no ability to think ahead when he makes decisions. Notice what’s happening with the tariffs, the ICE raids and “the big, beautiful bill” stuck in Congress because the cuts to various departments are unreasonable and, frankly, stupid.
I have no confidence whatsoever that Trump has actually thought ahead to what the implications were of that attack on Iran last weekend. He’s making his usual ridiculous, extreme comments about the success of the action and giving Iran ultimatums, having no understanding of its culture or history. I also have no confidence in the sycophants who he has selected to advise him in the administration.
As a psychologist, I can tell you the downfall of the narcissist — which he is — is their arrogance. In this case, Donald Trump’s arrogance has gotten us into a very dangerous situation, and I hope his downfall is not the downfall of all of us.
