Stanley J. Oldakowski of Southampton died at his home, surrounded by his family, on April 3. He was 85.
Born January 16, 1923, he served in the Marine Corps Third Division during World War II, and returned to the community where he became a longtime employee of the Tuckahoe Common School District.
Active in Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton and in the community, he was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as commander of Dunes Post 7009 from 1954 to 1955.
Mr. Oldakowski is survived by his wife, Sophie Oldakowski of Southampton; four daughters, Sophie Oldakowski of Southampton, Marie Stover of Southampton, Alice Jones of Tennessee and Ceil Caulfield of Florida; two sons, Paul Oldakowski of Southampton and Thomas Oldakowski of Huntington; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many friends.
Visitation was on April 7 at the O'Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. Funeral services were held on April 8 at Our Lady of Poland Church. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
