A coastal management presentation about the ramifications of beach nourishment will be held on Sunday, August 10, starting at 3 p.m., in Quogue Village Hall.
Sponsored by the Concerned Citizens of Quogue, a not-for-profit that opposes a proposed beach nourishment project planned for Quogue that is expected to cost between $12 million and $15 million, the presentation is entitled “Navigating Troubled Waters: Science and Coastal Management.”
The forum will be presented by Cornelia Dean, a lecturer at Brown University and science writer for The New York Times. Ms. Dean is also the author of “Against the Tide: The Battle for America’s Beaches.”
The program will be moderated by Dr. Rob Young, director of the Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines, which is based out of Western Carolina University. The program advocates for “responsible management policies that consider and balance economic and environmental interests,” according to its website, www.psds.wcu.edu.
All are welcome and there is no charge to attend.
